Resource Library

The resource lending library is for child care providers and other adults looking for information on parenting and early childhood learning and care. The library has child care and parenting magazines, pamphlets, training programs, videos and audio tapes. We have books on starting your family child care and on how to continue developing your family child care home. The library also offers a computer with Internet access for research related to child care and parenting

Toy and equipment lending library

Agency-approved child care providers, their child care families and CUPW members may borrow toys and equipment from the Family and Child Care Connections’ lending library. This service is particularly valuable to new providers who are just setting up their homes, as well as to those who would like to offer more variety in their child care environments.

The equipment in the library has been approved by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA approved) and includes such items as:

• infant rattles
  
• car seats for infants and toddlers
  
• booster seats for pre-schoolers and school aged
  
• high chairs and booster chairs
  
• strollers –single and double
  
• playpens
  
• gates
  
• baby monitors
  
• swing-a-matics
  
• large dramatic play equipment
  

The toys meet Health Canada's Product Safety Regulations and are checked before borrowing and upon their return to maintain their safety features. They range in age and developmental appropriateness from:

• infant rattles and infant toys
  
• play gyms
  
• puzzles for all ages
  
• a variety of manipulative toys
  
• imaginative play toys
  
• transportation toys
  
• science kits
  
• board games
  

Agency staff will explain or demonstrate how to use the equipment and toys safely before lending it to parents or child care providers.
